Founder pack promotional images. I created these images by posing and painting over the in-game models.
Early sketches for what would later become the Patchwork skin. The top left was a reanimated stone effigy of a possible "founder" character, and the top right was a being of pure mana - an unstable form referencing the nature of a game in development.
Patchwork final concept. The design was inspired by the fact that the game is created in Unreal Engine 4. The gizmo axis colors on the sleeves, the checkerboard pattern, wireframe armor, and dark gray/orange motifs are all engine references.

This is the first-pass concept of the Bug Hunter along with some silhouette studies.
Bug Hunter Final Concept. The idea with this character is a nod to our talented QA team.
Bug Hunter Ortho. This skin originally included large insectoid appendages on the back. They were even animated to move. They were removed to avoid obscuring the player's view.
Early sketches of the Keymaster skin. This skin is a reference to the lust for game access keys in the early days of our Alpha.
Keymaster final. The fact that the name also serves as a passing reference to one of my favorite movies is a plus. Pleased the name stuck.

Spellbreak Founder Pack Skin Concepts
I had the pleasure of designing a bunch of founder pack exclusive skins. At the time, we had very little narrative context to work with, so we ended up deriving inspiration from the state of development and community discourse in a slightly tongue-in-cheek fashion.
The Patchwork Skin was modeled by our outsource partner. I was responsible for aesthetic and technical guidance and feedback.
The Keymaster and Bug Hunter skins were modeled by Kristen Carter Ogles.
